The Purpose:
As students at BYU-Idaho, after having taken the class Middle East: The Roots of Conflict, we felt the need to tackle the misconceptions and unknown facts about Middle Eastern Culture.
Within this website you will find several pages of basic information on topics such as Islam, the Middle Eastern geography, basic political issues and terms, and the rules of Arab relationships.
We chose the theme of Breaking Down Barriers in symbolism of breaking down the barriers between Western culture and the Middle Eastern culture. The pictures above are of the Berlin Wall, the separation between East and West Berlin following World War II. Breaking down this wall opened up hope for the divided Germany; we hope it will inspire better connections between the West and the Middle East.
